Free Rides Continue As Marlborough Shuttle Joins MWRTA System
The City of Marlborough's commuter shuttle program will soon be under new management.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The City of Marlborough’s commuter shuttle program will soon be under new management, but riders can expect largely the same service, at least for now.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the Marlborough Commuter Shuttle, currently operated by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation, will transition to the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority. The service will continue operating under the same name.
The change is expected to bring only minor adjustments to the existing schedule, according to transit officials. Riders traveling between the Southborough MBTA station and Downtown Marlborough are advised to use the 495 Connector route, with updated schedules available on the MWRTA website.

The transition comes with several rider-friendly perks, including no fares, no registration required, handicap accessible, free onboard Wi-Fi, and a front-mounted bike rack.
Officials say the move aligns Marlborough more closely with the regional transit system, potentially improving long-term coordination and service consistency.

The revised commuter shuttle schedule is already available online through the MWRTA. Riders are encouraged to check routes and times in advance, especially during the early weeks of the transition.
MWRTA also encourages riders to download its Catch App, which provides real-time vehicle tracking.
