Sen. Jamie Eldridge To Seek Re-Election For Middlesex, Worcester District

MARLBOROUGH, MA — State Sen. Jamie Eldridge
(D - Middlesex and Worcester) said Tuesday morning that he is on the ballot to seek re-election this fall.

Sen. Eldridge said supporters helped gather signatures to secure his spot in the race and he will increase campaigning across the district’s 12 communities while holding fundraisers in late May and throughout June. Sen. Eldridge has represented the Middlesex and Worcester district since January 2009, according to the Massachusetts Legislature.

Candidates for the Massachusetts State Senate need 300 certified signatures to qualify for the ballot. District candidates have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file nomination papers with the Secretary’s office.

Sen. Eldridge said in his announcement that he has an opponent. Tim Shea is running for the Middlesex and Worcester district seat, according to Shea’s campaign website.

The district includes Marlborough and the towns of Acton, Ayer, Boxborough, Hudson, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Sudbury and Wayland in the county of Middlesex; and the towns of Harvard and Southborough in the county of Worcester, according to the Massachusetts Legislature.
