Marlborough Entrepreneur Opens Second Local Business

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough business owner who began his life in the U.S. working long hours in restaurants has opened a second local business.

State Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Middlesex, Worcester) said he recently met with Clayton Branco, a Brazilian American immigrant and Marlborough resident who operates Juma Grocery on Mechanic Street and recently opened Easy Cash at 910 Boston Post Road East near the Sudbury border.

Branco said he worked 100-hour weeks washing dishes and clearing tables after arriving in America before opening his own business.

"Through hard work, vision and persistence, Clayton opened his small grocery store, and now Easy Cash, which serves particularly Latino residents, and residents of group homes, both groups of whom are
often underbanked," Sen. Eldridge wrote in a Tuesday announcement. "I was impressed with his new business, which is in an office building where, in typical fashion, most of the businesses are immigrant-owned."

Eldridge, whose district includes Marlborough, Sudbury and Wayland, praised Branco’s work as an example of immigrant entrepreneurship. He said the office building where Easy Cash opened includes several immigrant-owned businesses.
