Consign My Closet Event Comes to Marlborough

Have a pile of clothing or other items that you'd like to get rid of? Here's an opportunity to make some money in the process.

Take a look in your child's closet and drawers and you may find overwhelming heaps of clothes no longer fitting your growing spawn. It's easy to accumulate massive amounts of clothes only to lay shoved in a dark chest waiting to be worn. If you investigate and find unused apparel in your child's room, the Consign My Closet event in Marlborough, to be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, is just what you need to eliminate your clothing chaos.

Consign My Closet is a resale event for children's clothing taking place at the pivotal fall/winter and spring/summer times of year. Consignors from the community get together to sell everything from toddler to teen clothing, toys, sports equipment and more. It is also an opportunity for anyone looking for brand names to find them at low prices.

Business partners Lynn Burke and Dawn Spratt both used to sell their children's items on eBay when they came upon a similar resale event held in the Midwest. They two recognized a prime opportunity to create a similar community resale event in the Metrowest area. Burke and Spratt not only created the event but named it and designed the look. On their website, viewers can find just how easy consigning items can be with a fact sheet on how cosigning works along with information on shopping, volunteering or having a booth at the event. And for all of us trying to live a greener life, the website features small tips on what we can do to better preserve the environment.

Burke spoke with great expectation of the event.

"We hope everyone who comes to the sale is pleased with the selection, quantity and quality of our gently used items," she said.

Contributing to the good of others beyond selling valuable articles of clothing at lower costs, a donation of unsold goods will be given to Cradles to Crayons, a charity that provides children who are homeless or in low-income families with necessary items for a better life.
