Council Approves Decreased Property Tax

Next year's tax will be slightly lower for Marlborough property owners.

The City Council voted new, decreased, rates for commercial and residential property for FY2015 in a joint meeting with the Board of Assessors, reported the Community Advocate.

This year’s residential tax rate is $16.11, and $28.22 for commercial properties, according to the town’s site.

The new rates are $15.76 for residents and $27.43 for commercial property owners. Mayor Arthur Vigeant and assessors reported that the average value of a single-family home rose about five percent last year, said the Community Advocate.
