Up Before the Council: Public Hearings on Apex Development, Verizon, National Grid

The City Council addresses a long agenda that includes hearings for the Apex devlopment for a restaurant and car wash.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—Development of a car wash and restaurant at the Apex Center, installation of stub poles by Verizon and National Grid, and a street funding program are among the items on the City Council meeting agenda on Monday, Sept. 26, at the City Hall council chambers.

Earlier this month, city councilors at a public hearing asked the developers who want to build one at the new Apex Center of New England on Route 20 in Marlborough, reports the MetroWest Daily News. The construction of the car wash is allowed by a special permit with the overlay district permit given for the Apex Center.

The 2,470 square foot car wash would be located next to a Chick-Fil-A restaurant, and would be open 24 hours, said MetroWest Daily News, which reported that closed drainage would stop water from the car wash from mixing with storm runoff. Still, several wondered if the city even needed another car wash.
