Saturday Morning Discovery Series West African Drummer Issa Coulibaly

On March 17 the Arts Alliance is pleased to present Master Djembe Drummer Issa Coulibaly in a free performance as the Saturday Morning Discovery series artist. Mr. Coulibaly will share the richheritage of West African style drumming. Well known for his dynamic playing and showmanship, Issa Coulibaly began studying the djembe and djun djun when he was 11 in his home city of Bamako, Mali. As his skill and reputation as a multi-instumental player, vocalist and arranger grew, Issa toured Africa and Europe extensively before emigrating to America. He continues to travel from Maine to Puerto Rico facilitating retreats and performing as the lead drummer and Musical Director for a variety of African Dance.


The Saturday Morning Discovery
Series continues this winter with free entertainment for family audiences at theMarlborough Senior Center, 250 Main Street. This delightful series will present a variety of performers for six weeks beginning on March 3 and continuing through April 7. Shows begin at 11 am.

 
The series is presented by the Arts Alliance and the City of Marlborough with support from the Ezra M. Cutting
