First Church in Marlborough Seeks Grant Applications for Outreach Fund

MARLBOROUGH, MA - From First Church in Marlborough: First Church in Marlborough (Congregational) UCC is seeking grant applications (due September 10, 2017) for its 350th Outreach Fund.

During 2016, First Church of Marlborough celebrated its 350th anniversary as an established church. The initial balance for the 350 th Outreach Fund comes from the fundraising done throughout that anniversary year. After covering the costs incurred for anniversary church events, the remaining funds were earmarked for the 350th Outreach Fund. Additional donations will be solicited to sustain this fund on an on-going basis.

Per Pastor Kaz Bem, “over the past 350 years we have been blessed so abundantly by God - we feel it is only right that we give back to the community. This is not something new - this is who we are as Congregational, Reformed Christians. We give back in gratitude. In the course of our 350 years we started the first poor relief fund and organization in our town, sent out missionaries around the world - we are staying true to our heritage and our vocations as Christians."

One of the people seeking funding for a project (1) must be a member of First Church in Marlborough, or an active and involved friend of First Church who regularly attends worship; and (2) must be actively involved in the project for which he/she is applying for funding.

Acceptable projects must be compatible with the Christian mission of First Church in Marlborough, and must provide local, national or international outreach to people. The grant may be used to support an ongoing outreach project, or it may be seed money for a new project. While 501(c)3 status is not a
requirement, applicants on behalf of organizations with status will be given priority.

Recipient must agree to be a part of publicity involved with the Outreach Fund, and to provide
quarterly updates on the project and a year-end final report.
