MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough man's home was broken into three times while he recovers from severe burns in the hospital, police said. Gene Rano, 68, was burned over 40 percent of his body during a brush fire on April 2, according to Marlborough Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Gogan. Rano has been in a medically induced coma in Massachusetts General Hospital.

Marlborough police said three breakins have occurred at his home between April 6 and 8 while Rano has been in the hospital. Police could not specify everything that was stolen, but did say that a television was taken from the home. Police said they know of two potential suspects, a man and woman.

Surveillance video caught from cameras on Rano's property show the man kicking in the door and then the two loading a TV and other items into a sport utility vehicle.. The footage was released by WCVB Boston. The station spoke with Rano's son, Nicholas, who said his father's home was robbed three times. Nicholas told WCVB that his father's legs had to be amputated because of the burns.
