MARLBOROUGH, MA — It's safe — or at least safe enough — to go back downtown.

Marlborough's City Hall has reopened to the public during regular business hours, Mayor Arthur Vigeant said Thursday. Residents can visit most city departments, but other city offices — like police, public works and the veteran's office — will remain closed.

City Hall visitors will notice a few changes downtown. Plexiglas barriers have been erected in some areas to protect workers, and hand sanitizer stations have been set up around the building. There will also be distance markers and sign-in sheets at each office.

"It is asked that the public limit their visits to City Hall and continue to use the City of Marlborough’s remote capabilities to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19," the mayor's office said in a news release Thursday.

City Hall closed with most other government functions in Marlborough in March. The building will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Anyone with coronavirus symptoms should stay away from the building.
