MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough police are bringing back a summer program that rewards young bicyclists for safe riding.

Under the Bike Safety Positive Reinforcement Program, officers will look for children wearing helmets, obeying traffic laws, riding responsibly and showing safe riding habits. Children spotted making safe choices may be stopped by officers, congratulated and given a certificate for a free ice cream cone from Trombetta's Farm.

The program aims to encourage bicycle safety through positive interactions between police officers and children, according to the department.
