Marlborough Dems Hold Caucus To Elect Delegates

The Marlborough democrats meeting to elect its officials, delegates and focus on the party platform.

MARLBOROUGH – Marlborough's democrats are meeting on Saturday, March 25, at 9 a.m. at the Kane Elementary School, 520 Farm Road.

Hosted by the Marlborough Democratic Committee, the purpose of the meeting is to elect new officers to a two-year term and to elect delegates to the Democratic State Convention, to be held on Saturday, June 3, at the DCU Center in Worcester. This year’s convention will be a platform convention and delegates will formulate and vote on the party’s positions on issues affecting our state, country and quality of life, said a release from the Marlborough Democratic Committee.

“We are seeing additional interest and participation because the last election does not reflect the popular majority of American citizens” said MDCC Chairman Kirk Hurley in a statement. “The current administration is creating policies that have the potential to hurt millions of people, many of whom are our friends, family and neighbors.”

Pre-registered Democrats who will be 18 by Sept. 11, 2018, the anticipated date of the Massachusetts primary election, will be able to participate in the caucuses and run for delegate.

Delegates and alternate delegates will be equally divided among men and women. In the spirit of inclusion, minorities and people with disabilities who are not elected delegates or alternates may apply to be add-on delegates. They may do so either at the caucus or online at www.massdems.org.
