Marlborough Preliminary Election Features 3-Way Mayor Race

The Marlborough Preliminary Election happens on Oct. 8 with two challengers up against longtime Mayor Arthur Vigeant.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough will hold its mayoral preliminary election on Tuesday, pitting incumbent Mayor Arthur Vigeant against challengers David Garceau, a local police officer, and small business owner Keith St. John.

This is Vigeant's fifth term, and he served as a City Councilman for 18 years before he was elected mayor in 2011. Garceau, a 39-year police veteran, is running on issues related to development in Marlborough. St. John has never held office, but did run in 2018 as a Democrat for the 3rd Congressional District seat.

The polls will be open Tuesday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling locations are:

  • 1st Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Francis J. Kane School, 520 Farm Road
  • 2nd Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Francis J. Kane School, 520 Farm Road
  • 3rd Ward: Precinct 1 — Senior Center, 40 New St.
  • 3rd Ward: Precinct 2 — Raymond J. Richer School, 80 Foley Road
  • 4th Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Senior Center, 40 New St.
  • 5th Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Senior Center, 40 New St.
  • 6th Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Charles W. Whitcomb School, 25 Union St.
  • 7th Ward: Precincts 1 and 2 — Hildreth School Gymnasium, 85 Sawin St.

Two candidates will proceed to the general election on Nov. 5. The last day to register to vote in Marlborough before then is Oct. 16.
