Celebration Of Marlborough Medical Workers Planned For Friday

Police and firefighters from Marlborough, Sudbury and beyond will drive through the city to support medical workers fighting coronavirus.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A phenomenon sweeping the country will happen in Marlborough on Friday afternoon as dozens of emergency vehicles drive through the city with sirens blaring to celebrate medical workers fighting coronavirus.

More than 20 emergency vehicles from Marlborough, Sudbury, Northborough and other local towns will parade past Marlborough Hospital, 157 Union St., at 3:30 p.m. in a show of support. Local residents are invited to come watch while minding social distancing standards.

Similar parades have happened recently in Worcester, Milford, and Melrose.

Massachusetts is in midst of the coronavirus surge. Marlborough Hospital is caring for 19 people with coronavirus, including five who are in intensive care, according to state figures. Three-hundred and thirty Marlborough residents have tested positive for the virus so far, and eight have died.
