Electric Vehicle Charging Station Arrives at Restaurant
The charging station outside the 99 Restaurant is part of a larger program to establish sites for powering up electric vehicles.

The Marlborough location of the is one of 11 in the state to now offer customers who drive electric vehicles a free recharging station.
The charging station was recently installed outside the restaurant at 32 Boston Post Rd West as part of a U.S. Department of Energy-funded program being rolled out by National Grid and Columb Technologies known as Charge Point America.
In addition to Marlborough, the stations were also installed at Ninety Nines in Auburn, Billerica, Easton, Foxboro, Westford, Milford, North Andover, Revere, Tewksbury, and Weymouth.

While relatively few electric cars are on the road, sales are increasing, with the number of electric vehicles sold more than tripling in the first quarter of 2012, according to industry data. Forecasts are for around 40,000 plug-in cars to be sold this year in the U.S., boosted by the recent introduction of a plug-in version of the Toyota Prius, the most popular model of hybrid vehicle.
