Stevens Park Getting New Playscape, Trees, Fences and a Lot More with $200,000 Grant
The DPW is hurrying to complete the major upgrade to Stevens Park with the state's grant money.

Using a $200,000 awarded to the city from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (Backyard Grants program), Marlborough is working on completing the upgrade to Stevens Park, said John Ghiloni, commissioner of the Department of Public Works in Marlborough.
With it, the town was able to purchase and add a new playscape, pavilion, benches, trash containers, trees and fencing.

It was stipulated that the DPW must complete the project by the end of 2014 in order to get the full $200,000.
“We have the weather against us at this time of the year,” said Ghiloni, “but it has to be completed.”

In addition to the playscape and other improvements, Marlborough was also able to upgrade the existing lighting for the lower baseball field, irrigation, netting and fencing.
