Try Out for 'Hamlet': Ghost Light Opera Holds Auditions

Ghost Light Players hold auditions for the Shakespeare classic, to be performed in Marlborough.

Think you’ve got what it takes to play Claudius, Prince Hamlet or King Hamlet? The Shakespeare classic is being performed by the Ghost Light Players of MetroWest and auditions are coming.

Auditions for “Hamlet,” to be performed in April, are on Jan. 24 from 1-4 p.m. and Jan. 25 from 7-10 p.m., both by appointment. Callbacks take place on Jan. 26. Auditions, as well as rehearsals and performances, will be held at the First Church in Marlborough on 37 High Street.

The well-known tragedy (of “To be, or not to be?” fame) follows the story of Hamlet, prince of Denmark, as he struggles to avenge his father’s death . . . and, so it seems, to maintain his own sanity.

The group has included a production of Shakespeare in every season since their inception. “Hamlet,” like Ghost Light’s previous Shakespearean performances, will be presented free of charge. The group will collect, in lieu of an admission fee, donations for an area charity.
