UPDATE: Marlborough High Not Evacuated, Had Shelter-In-Place

Rumors of a fight caused a temporary shelter-in-place, but there were no evacuations, according to police and the school.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A shelter-in-place was called Monday afternoon at Marlborough High School after rumors of a fight.

Patch had previously cited an incorrect source in reporting the school had been evacuated.

Police Chief Mark Leonard confirmed that the school had not been evacuated.

Around 12:30 on Monday, a shelter-in-place was called at the high school due to reports of a possible fight. Police were called and responded as a precautionary measure. The shelter-in-place was lifted after about 20 minutes.

"There was a small altercation later in the day that was handled by the school administration," said school spokesperson Beth Wagner. "At no time was there an evacuation of the school."
