A wake and funeral are planned for Clardy, killed after a traffic accident last week.

HUDSON, MA — The family of Massachusetts State Trooper Thomas L. Clardy, who was killed in a traffic accident last week, has planned the wake and funeral to be held this week.

The wake will be held on Monday, 2-7 p.m., at St. Michael Parish in Hudson, his hometown. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at St. Michael's.

Trooper Clardy, 44, died from injuries he sustained when a car crashed into his stationary vehicle on the Mass. Pike in Charlton last Wednesday.

"He was extremely well-liked by the men and women he worked with and had a reputation as a hard worker, a good trooper, and a great man," State Police Col. Richard McKeon said during a press conference that evening. "He was known for his professionalism and dedication. All who knew him have, today, borne witness to his outstanding character."

Clardy, who was Mormon, worshipped at the Mormon Church's Marlborough Ward, but the funeral is being held at the Roman Catholic church because it can accommodate more people, and Massachusetts State Police told the Boston Globe they are expecting thousands of mourners. The funeral will take place on Tuesday.
