2015 Martha's Vineyard Book Festival
Summer book festival on Martha's Vineyard Saturday, August 1, 2015 and Sunday, August 2, 2015
Martha’s Vineyard has a long, rich literary heritage of authors traveling to this beautiful island to find inspiration. Now in its sixth year, the Martha’s Vineyard Book Festival is a celebration of the island’s literary tradition and shines a spotlight on this community and its creativity. The weekend’s events will provide a unique glimpse into the minds of some of today’s hottest and most influential writers. Authors, both of local fame and national acclaim, will come together for two days of readings, panel discussions, author interviews, and book signings. Festival visitors will have an opportunity to engage with authors on a personal level and dive into discussions about what drives their creative processes. Among the featured authors this year are Erik Larson, Carl Safina, Laurie David, Chris Fischer, Steven Satterfield, Mark Hutker, and many others. In this relaxed setting, there will be the chance to ask questions directly of authors and discover new authors. The festival is free and open to all.
On Saturday, August 1 the festival will be held down island at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown from 9 am - 4 pm. On Sunday, August 2 the festival will move up island to Chilmark in tents on the grounds of the Chilmark Community Center from 9 am - 4 pm. Food will be available throughout the day at both locations. Author signings will follow each discussion. Books will be available for sale by Bunch of Grapes Bookstore.
