American Standard, a short film by David Henry Gerson, photographed by Edward Keating

Sgt. John Richards, a young American soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), returns home from military service in Afghanistan to his undocumented immigrant girlfriend. After killing for his country, he is tormented by the idea that his lover might be using him as a means to gain citizenship. The film is based in part on the stories of the film’s star, Sgt. Marco Reininger, a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Written and directed by David Henry Gerson, an actor and director, and, most importantly, a CCC alum.  David has worked in television, film and the stage.  Photographed by Edward Keatinga Pulitzer Prize winning photographer who was on staff at the New York Times for over a decade and is celebrated for his unvarnished style of realism.  Both David and Edward will be there to present their film.  A discussion on veterans’ readjustment and PTSD will follow.
