ARTIST RETROSPECTIVE and RECEPTION

Dragonfly Fine Arts Gallery and Shephard Fine ArtSpace are pleased to announce that they will host a joint Retrospective Exhibit of painter Nancy Furino's work from 9/29 through 10/10.

Furino, at 82, has been living and painting on Island since she moved here in 1980. A Copley Master, she is noted for her colorful work depicting scenes from Martha's Vineyard and around the world. As a young graduate of the Museum School in Boston she won a travel award and spent 2 years in Italy and Europe.

Dragonfly owners Don McKillop and Susan Davy first proposed the idea of a major retrospective to Furino last Spring. In July, Vineyard Style magazine published an extensive Artist Profile about Furino which generated a lot of interest in her work.

McKillop photographed and produced a retrospective catalog of some 65 images of Furino's paintings. The catalog, and a giclee on canvas of Furino's "Illumination Night", are currently available for sale at both Dragonfly Fine Arts and Shephard Fine ArtSpace. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of books and giclees will benefit two of Furino's favorite charities - MV Drive for Life and the MV Animal Shelter.

Additional paintings not shown in the catalog will also be featured and for sale at the Retrospective Exhibit in both galleries.

A public reception for the artist will be held at the two galleries on Saturday October 8th. Furino will be at Dragonfly Fine Arts from 5 - 6:30 PM and  at Shephard Fine ArtSpace from 6:30 - 8 pm.

Dragonfly Fine Arts Gallery is located in the ARTS District at 91 Dukes County Ave in Oak Bluffs. Shephard Fine ArtSpace, also a member of the ARTS DIstrict, is located at 8 Uncas Ave, just off Circuit Ave, in Oak Bluffs.
