The golden age of harpooning swordfish lasted for much of the twentieth century. Sword follows Gideon McVey’s career from his teenage years until the 1990’s when longlining swordfish made the art of harpooning obsolete. Author Jack Lynch, Block Island summer resident, will also introduce us to Driver James, who uses a spotting plane in an attempt to compete with long liners.
