The Shipwrecks exhibit opens to the general public and will be on display through August 11, 2012. The Museum is open from 10 am - 5 pm.
Countless vessels have been wrecked off the shores of Martha's Vineyard. This exhibition will explore the fascinating and often tragic stories behind these ill-fated voyages through photos, paintings and the wreckage that has washed ashore. Visitors will see a door from the famous passenger steamer, City of Columbus, which sank off Aquinnah in 1884, and learn what underwater exploration is telling us about the relics that remain on the sea floor.
