Martha's Vineyard Poet Laureate

 If you are a year-round or seasonal poet, and have an interest in serving as the first Martha’s Vineyard Poet Laureate in our island’s history – please submit five of your finest poems

 Any genre, style, or form of poetry is acceptable

 A panel of Martha’s Vineyard Poets Society judges will read all submissions, and select six of the best poets. The winning six finalists will be announced the first week of April – which is national poetry month. Winners must be willing to participate in a public reading that will be videotaped and distributed on our Martha’s Vineyard Poetry Society’s facebook page; MVTV; YouTube; Arts of Martha’s Vineyard; AOL’s Martha’s Vineyard Patch; the MV Poets email list, and other supporting media and island agencies

 The MV Poet Laureate will be announced the second week of April

 The winning ‘year-round poet laureate’ and ‘seasonal alternate’ must do their best to be available for public and private functions on and off-island, and to promote poetry through our schools and libraries. The winning Martha’s Vineyard Poet Laureate and seasonal alternate will be celebrated at a public event. The term for the Martha’s Vineyard Poet Laureate and seasonal alternate will be two years.

 Please submit a cover letter containing your contact information and whether you are a year-round or seasonal resident. On separate paper(s) submit your five poems without any identifying marks to:
