Shimmy Belly Dance Show

In what is likely the most elaborate belly dance program ever offered on the island, Vineyard Bellydance and Revue will present a full length show on Friday, May 11 at the Katherine Cornell Theater. The belly dance extravaganza, "Shimmy," will feature guest dancers from around New England, music and dance styles from various countries and works by eight different choreographers.

Ameena, and the Zariifa Bellydance Troupe will travel to the island to perform for the first time. Daughters of Divas youth dancers will grace the stage. Rounding out the revue will be a rare performance by acclaimed jazz vocalist, Jerri Wells, who has previously performed with Count Bassie in New York City.

This family-friendly evening of entertainment is funded in part by the Martha's Vineyard Cultural Council and the Permanent Endowment for Martha's Vineyard.  Money raised will support free community belly dance performances throughout the year.
