The Martha's Vineyard Center for Living is holding its fifth cultural luncheon. The event will honor The Whaling Wives of Martha's Vineyard. The program speaker is Vineyard-born mystery writer Cynthia Riggs whose tenth book, The Bee Balm Murders, hit the stands last month. Cynthia's great-grandmother, Mary Carline Cleaveland, sailed with her husband, Capt. James Cleaveland on a five-year voyage into the Pacific. During the voyage, Mary gave birth to two daughters. Mary Welder, the youngest of the three Cleaveland offspring was born on the Vineyard. Don't miss this important and exciting slice of Vineyard history. The Go To for tickets is MVC4L Director Leslie Clapp 508-939-9440. The proceeds will benefit the MVC4L, a 501c3 organization whose mission and programs enhance and enrich the lives of Island seniors. Composer Phil Dietterich (on the keyboard) and vocalist Martha Hudson will entertain luncheon guests with a musical interlude. Tickets may also be obtained through MVC4L board members: Diane Jetmund, June Manning, Ginger Duarte, Shirley Deming, Olga Church, Karen Achille, Barbara Harnen, Ellie Bates and Chuck Cotnoir.
