Island-Raised Meat Added to High School Menu

Local farmers, school administrators and teens are making local history together as the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School cafeteria adds Island-raised beef to its offerings.

The Martha's Vineyard locavore movement took another step forward this month with the first delivery of Island-raised, grass-fed beef to the regional high school cafeteria.

According to Facebook update by the Island Grown Schools initiative,

"This is the first time that local meat has been served in our high school cafeteria, and thanks to cafeteria director Bernadette Cormie, Mermaid Farm, Fred Fischer, chef Jan Buhrman, and Island Grown Schools, we are all making history!"
