“The Siren and The Waves” is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Melanie Sroka-Chaunce. The name originates from a title to a one-woman musical, and has since evolved into a collection of songs inspired by her love of the Oceans and Earth.

The Siren’s sound is a soulfully original blend of jazz, reggae, latin rhythms, funk, and blues. The result is a danceable, poetry-filled experience not to be missed!

Melanie hails from a musical family, comprising of a jazz drummer, a music teacher, an opera singer, and a Broadway performer. While studying music she was the featured jazz singer with the Western State Big Band. She later travelled to Cuba with her world music group, Gaia Roots numerous times, where she studied Salsa and Latin percussive styles, which still influence her songwriting and composing.
She is inspired by her love of the earth and its oceans, her interest in sailing, ocean themed mythology, and the beauty of Martha’s Vineyard ~ which are all popular themes in her music.
