Massachusetts has the second-best school system in the nation, according to a new report.
The personal finance service WalletHubcompiled the Best and Worst School Systems in the country. New Jersey came out on top.

The rankings were based on factors like student-teacher ratio, dropout rates, test scores, and bullying incidents.
“Though the amount of state funding a school receives can be helpful, it is by no means a determinant of quality,” the report found.

Here’s how Massachusetts fared on certain factors:
Math Test Scores— No. 1
Reading Test Scores—No. 1
Bullying Incidents Rate—No. 3
Dropout Rate—No. 12
Student-teacher Ratio—No. 13
Overall, Vermont was ranked No. 3., New Hampshire was ranked No. 4, Maine was ranked No. 17, and Rhode Island was ranked No. 31.
