Noepe Center for the Literary Arts gets their summer groove on with live music from Somerville Symphony Orkestar

An 'Evening of Poetry, Libation and Dance'

Allow your senses to be heighted by the Somerville Symphony Orkestar on Wednesday, July 2nd at the Noepe Center for the Literary Arts.  Prepare to soak in each note of this all-original Eastern European Punk Funk band. Their set has been called “explosively energetic,” so put on your dancing shoes, let your sundresses sway and get ready immerse yourself in music.

Let the condensation of cold drinks hit your hands while your body bounces with the exuberance of the night. Words will dance from the mouths of talented Noepe Center poets during this evening of ‘Poetry, Libation & Dance,’ while the Noepe Center for the Literary Arts kick starts its summer event series.

We can thank saxophonist and band leader, Joel Edinburg, for following his dreams; literally. Edinburg arose from a sound sleep one random Tuesday night in 2009 with an urge to write a song. His hand, fresh from a deep slumber wrote what later evolved into one of Somerville Symphony Orkestar’s first songs. It was crazy, it was wild and it was the inspiration to form a band. The Allston Pudding recently wrote “Somerville Symphony Orkestar is the kind of band with a very serious sense of humor, who takes their upbeat lyricless gypsy punk tunes to heart.”  So thanks Joel, for following that Tuesday night dream and bringing us what will be an experience like none other.

Proceeds benefit the Noepe Center for the Literary Arts summer literary program. The Noepe Center is a nonprofit organization with an appreciation and passion for the literary arts. Their programs promote expression, education and the art of writing in both adults and children. To check out what the Noepe Center has to offer for Summer ’14 please visit www.noepecenter.org
