Oceans Wilderness: Performance, Installation & Poetry Reading

Pathways presents the fifth annual Oceans Wilderness ... Off Usual Routes … water, sky, wind, earth, clouds, flight, bluffs … A multi-arts performance, installation and poetry reading, hosted by Marianne Goldberg, celebrating oceans and initiating conversation towards a marine sanctuary on island.

The evening presentations include island musician Joe Keenan singing original sea songs and composer Dean Rosenthal introducing his current work in progress, Island, a soundscape of Vineyard field recordings.

Award winning author, Sam Low will talk about his experience as a teenager exploring the wreck of the Port Hunter, submerged in Vineyard waters in 1960.

Marianne Goldberg previews a new performance installation in process, Let There Be Light, OceA Choreography of Fabric & Light with Susan Puciul and the Pathways Team, David Stanwood on prepared piano.

Highlighting Oceans Poetry for April, National Poetry Month, all poets, writers, and singer-songwriters are invited to share writings or create music exploring Oceans Wilderness terrain off usual routes, joining Robert MacLean reading new Oceans poetry; William Waterway presenting an excerpt from new Lighthouse poetry against a digital backdrop of his photography; Susan Puciul and Andrea Quigley, and others sharing oceans poetry.

The Pathways fifth annual Oceans Wilderness Festival is open jointly this year at Featherstone Center for the Arts through May 6th and at Pathways Living Room Gallery in Chilmark through April 25th.

The Pathways atrium features paintings by Gabrielle Whitcombe and Marston Clough, with artists Karen Trotier, Laura Roosevelt, Peter Simon, Doris Lubell, Ed Schulman, Kathy Poehler, Maria Hurwitz, Ronni Simon, Mitch Gordon, Linda Thompson, Scott Crawford, amongst others, across the gallery.
