Plover Hatching Closes Beach Areas To Over-Sand Vehicles
The area north of Dike Bridge will be closed until chicks move along, per state regulations.

EDGARTOWN, MA — The final plover nest hatching has forced some new closures of Martha's Vineyard beach areas to over-sand vehicles.
The Trustees announced that the chicks hatched on an outside section of East Beach at the Narrows. The chicks are feeding on the outside beach near an abandoned trail that leads across the barrier beach.
Per state guidelines, their presence means the closure of the area to over-sand vehicles north of Dike Bridge.

A reopening will depend on where the chicks decide to feed. The Trustees will monitor their movement and update restrictions as needed.
