What is the real reason for building the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal ?

Aka the “ocean wind turbine port.”

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center is using up to 100 million dollars in renewable energy funds to build an ocean wind turbine port in New Bedford. But wait ! Folks, Quonset Point, Rhode Island and Falmouth Harbor are the federally permitted construction ports for Cape Wind.

So why are they really building the New Bedford ocean port with renewable energy funds ?

Does it have anything to do with the antiquated freight port at Woods Hole, Falmouth Massachusetts - Yes you bet it does.

Local news media and politicians for years have told residents of the SouthCoast (New Bedford Area) that ocean wind turbine contractors will be using New Bedford as a port for future wind turbine projects.

Has the news media lost all hope of investigative journalism ?

Ocean wind contractors already have a port in Rhode Island and Deep Water Wind will be sharing the Quonset Point docks. Not New Bedford.

Let’s look at the Woods Hole freight terminal. The terminal is old and has major flood plain regulations going against it in any kind of major reconstruction.

The affluent residents of Woods Hole are tired of hearing trucks 24/7 pulling in and out of the current terminal.

Steamship Authority,SAA board members have resigned from the board over arguments in the rebuilding process.

The cost of rebuilding the Woods Hole Terminal would be over the next few years : Yes, you guessed it 100 million dollars the same as the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal.

The Falmouth community including WHOI, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute do they feel the terminal at Woods Hole should be rebuilt ?

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center in the past has awarded many renewable energy grants to institutes.
Now a freight terminal ?

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center recently offered to provide Falmouth with up to 1.8 million in litigation fees for their wind turbine fiasco. Falmouth is ground zero for poorly placed commercial wind turbines in the United States
.
The Mass CEC helped supply and finance the Falmouth wind turbines.
You may all say New Bedford again for a freight port ?

The New Bedford connection dragged the SSA into deficit for years. Martha’s Vineyard had to pay the loss in their taxes.,

How many times has the New Bedford connection been brought up over the years ?

Now it’s going to be part of the “Agenda.”

Hmmm , So the ocean wind contractors this September don’t choose to use the brand new New Bedford Ocean wind turbine port ( New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal ) .

The Falmouth SSA freight port is old and needs to be rebuilt.

Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Cuttyhunk and Falmouth welcome to the new SSA port terminal in New Bedford and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center paid for it with renewable energy funds.
