Vineyard Haven Stop & Shop Hearing Delayed, Report Says
Sept. 3 is the next date for the pubic hearing before the Martha's Vineyard Commission on a controversial proposal to expand the Stop & Shop in Vineyard Haven, the Vineyard Gazette reports.

A public hearing on proposed expansion at the Stop & Shop in Vineyard Haven, scheduled to continue next week before the Martha's Vineyard Commission, has been delayed, reports the Vineyard Gazette.
Stop & Shop officials, who have faced opposition in their plan to consolidate the 9,300-square-foot supermarket with two abutting buildings to create a 23,800-square-foot store, have a working session with Tisbury selectmen Aug. 28 and a public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3, the Gazette reports.
In a phone call to Martha's Vineyard Patch, town resident Katherine Scott called the proposed expansion a "monolith" and expressed concern that not enough residents were aware that "this juggernaut is coming down the pike."
Where do you stand on the proposed Stop & Shop expansion? Is it too big, not big enough or not needed at all? Tell us in the comments.
