Where's the Corned Beef on Martha's Vineyard?

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, Martha's Vineyard residents Irish for life and Irish for a day are looking forward to some traditional fare.
At the top of the list is corned beef, traditionally served with cabbage, turnips and potatoes.
Shiretown Meats in Edgartown is selling housemade corned beef without nitrates, according to the longtime local business on its Facebook page: 231 Upper Main Street, (508) 627-5115.

Edgartown Meat and Fish Markets is another good source: 240 Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road (Post Office Square), 508-627-6200.
You can also shop the supermarkets: Stop & Shop and Cronig's are selling corned beef and cabbage as well.

If baking's your thing, here's something fun to serve with your St. Pat's Day feast: This recipe for Irish soda biscuits comes from the Food Network via Plymouth Patch. It's easy and tasty.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
- two tablespoons cold butter diced
- 1 tablespoons caraway seeds
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Directions
Mix flour, sugar, baking soda and kosher salt in a bowl. Work in butter by hand. Add raisins and caraway seeds. Mix in buttermilk. Pat out the dough until 1 inch thick; cut into four to six 2 1/2-inch rounds. Bake at 375 degrees F, 15 to 20 minutes.
