Community Update

The following letter was submitted by Ron Griffin, Veteran Service Officer, The Memorial Day Committee.

Letter to the editor:

Medfield's Memorial Day Committee would like to express its thanks to
the many citizens of Medfield who participated in the observance of
Memorial Day.  This year a larger than usual crowd squeezed together at
Baxter Park to honor those who gave their lives for our country.
Attendance does seem to sanctify the event, and for that we thank you.

The days events occur because of the participation of many citizens.
Many of those people are listed as participants in the program while
many are not.  Let me express thanks to Michelle Doucette for making the
program that was distributed.  To Hank Marcel for the setting up of the
PA system which is so generously provided by MEMO.  To Jerry Kanzanjian
and Randy Disinger for the use of their automobiles.  To the Fire
Department for providing and decorating the trailer to carry our
non-marching Veterans.  To the Sons of the American Legion who prepared
a collation for several hundred marchers.  To Al Manganello and his wife
Lorraine along with their family and friends who prepared the Legion
Hall then cleaned it up afterwards.  To Tim and Ken at the highway
department who worked very hard to prepare the grounds at Vine Lake
cemetery as well as to the Park & Rec staff who prepared the grounds at
Baxter Park.  To Frank Iafolla and friends who placed a new American
Flag at each veterans grave. To Medfield Cable 8 staff who filmed and
edited the day for everyone to enjoy and remember. Finally a special
thanks to the Medfield Press, Hometown Weekly and Medfield Patch for
sharing pictures and telling the story of our observance of Memorial Day
2014.
