ALS services begin today in Medfield!

Nov. 30, 2018 marks beginning of Advanced Life Support Services in Medfield

This is a huge day for the town of Medfield.

TheMedfield Board of Selectmen and Fire Chief William Carrico are pleased to announce the Medfield Fire Department began offering Advanced Life Support (ALS) services today November 30, 2018.

Shortly before 8 am Lieutenant Neil Kingsbury, FF/EMTP Brian Syrett and FF/EMTP Nick Andexler responded to our first ALS call which was for chest pain. The patient was transported to the Norwood Hospital without incident.

For the past several years, the Medfield Fire Department has offered Basic Life Support (BLS), with our mutual aid neighbors providing ALS services. Over the past three months five new paramedics were hired with the last coming on-board in the beginning of November. We are now
operating with four – three man shifts at the ALS level.

I would like to thank the Citizens of Medfield, members of the ALS Committee, Representative Shawn Dooley and Representative Denise Garlick, the Medfield Board of Selectmen, and Dr. Michael Valkanas for everything they did to make ALS happen.
