Medfield Addresses Billing Mistake

Medfield alerts residents to water and sewer billing error.

MEDFIELD, MA — Medfield residents may want to hold off on paying their latest water and sewer bills after the town discovered a billing error.

In a news release Wednesday, the town announced that a sewer rate increase approved by the Water and Sewer Board was not updated in the utility billing software for the April through October 2026 billing cycle.

While the total water consumption listed on residents' bills is correct, the sewer rate used to calculate the charges is incorrect.

As the town works to resolve the issue, residents are being asked to hold off on making water and sewer payments until corrected bills are issued.

The updated bills will be printed on blue paper and mailed Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Residents who have already paid their bills will be contacted by a member of the Department of Public Works administrative staff.

The town also announced that its online payment portal, UniPay, is expected to reopen Nov. 20 once the billing issue has been resolved.

For now, residents are encouraged to wait for their corrected bills before submitting payments.
