What’s the difference between a player and a fan? Football season is underway, so let it be our example. Do you watch games on Sunday? Perhaps you also watch an occasional Monday or Thursday game. You cheer and have some fun with friends or through your fantasy team, but when the game is over, you turn the TV off.
You’re not a player who lives and breathes football 7 days a week.

So are we disciples of Jesus or simply fans?
When Jesus called a disciple, He asked him to leave his old life and promised to teach him a new way, a far better way of living. There is a cost to being a disciple. You will spend your time differently. There is also a cost to not being a disciple: missing out on the peace and joy that comes from a relationship with God; continued division, anger, and unforgivenesss in your relationships with others; as well as guilt, shame, and anxiety.
