Article 23 "Spring St. Overlay District" a Concerning Precedent

More Density More Stuff, Not in My Backyard!

Article 23 creates a concerning precedent that will allow increased density of residential home development in the RU district of Medfield.

The RU district already sees an undue burden when it comes to development and the proposed article #23 while offering to help the interests of a small group, places increased risk to the rest of the district. The proposed overlay district on spring street if approved, would allow land owners to build nearly twice as many homes on the same existing land including multi-family development in an already dense neighborhood. While this may be less of a concern within the proposed location on spring street, it most certainly opens up a precedent for other co-located parcels within the district to be joined and developed (in our back yards) at the request of future developers, leading to more homes on less space, increased noise, vehicles (parked and driven), carbon footprint and increased demand on town services.

I am voting no on article 23 because I like my neighborhood the way it is, I don’t want more stuff in the same space.
