Bellforge Arts Center Celebrates Key Milestone in Development of former MSH Campus

Last week, staff and supporters of the Bellforge Arts Center celebrated the results of the Town of Medfield’s special town meeting on June 21, 2022.

Over 700 town residents attended the meeting, approving the sale of portions of the former Medfield State Hospital campus to Trinity Financial. Trinity’s proposal to rehabilitate the campus’s historic buildings and grounds to create 334 residential apartment units will benefit the MetroWest region and support the Bellforge Arts Center’s build-out plans. Trinity’s development includes bringing much-needed infrastructure to the campus, including water, sewer, and electric, none of which currently exist, and renovating the buildings to keep the current look and feel of the campus intact.

“This week’s vote was a win for our region and for the many individuals helping make our multi-arts center a reality,” said Jean Mineo, Executive Director of the Bellforge Arts Center. “We deeply appreciate the years-long efforts of Medfield’s Board of Selectmen and Warrant Committee, the Medfield State Hospital Development Committee, the voters, and countless others in bringing us to this moment. With this key milestone behind us, we will continue executing on our vision, expanding our programming, and partnering with Trinity to build a vibrant new community on this beautiful property.”
