On Tuesday evening, October 28th, eleven MHS Seniors attended a dinner at the American Legion Beckwith Post 110 hall. Each of these students were chosen to participate in Massachusetts Boys State or Massachusetts Girls State this past June. Girls and Boys from across the Commonwealth are chosen to attend after an application process. This year, the students from Massachusetts went to Stonehill College in June 2015.

Karl Schwartz, Boys State Chair and Michelle Doucette, Girls State Chair for Beckwith Post 110 introduced each student. They all spoke briefly about their experience and thanked the Legion, their parents and others having had the opportunity to experience this unique and rewarding event.

The cost involved in sending students to these programs is entirely dependent on fundraising by the Legion and the Auxiliary and from donations. This year the cost was funded by both the Legion and the Auxiliary fundraising and by MEMO, the LIONS CLUB, Middlesex Bank and Needham Bank.

Students and their parents are not allowed to contribute to the cost of this experience, but donations are welcome from residents or local business and any other Medfield business or banking institution who would like to help with sponsorship for next years event, but it would have no impact on which students will be chosen.
