Doing Good and Being Green - A Successful Medfield Green Day
Medfield Green Day 2013 was a success. Two hundred and twenty car loads of items were donated to recycle, reuse, or renew.
Two hundred and twenty car loads of items to recycle, reuse, and renew made Medfield Green Day 2013 a success. Fourteen charitable and recycling organizations collaborated with high school volunteers from Cynthia Blum’s classroom and Medfield Green volunteers to see that all items found their best reuse.
By noontime, at the end of the event, the kindness of the people supporting this event resulted in:

- The collection of hundreds of bikes that will help people all over the world get to where they need to go
- 3000 lbs. of clothing and shoes donated to Planet Aid that will help the environment and support international development projects
- A truck load of furniture that will benefit the Aids Actions Committee of Massachusetts
- A bin filled with metals that will be recycled and kept out of the landfill
- One rack and several bags of professional clothing to be used by underprivileged women to make a good impression at their job interviews
- A truck filled with children’s clothing and toys will be given directly to Massachusetts children in-need who would otherwise have to go without essential items
- Two car loads of books and cd’s that will benefit the Friends of the Medfield Library
- A box filled with unused or expired prescription drugs that the Medfield Police will dispose of properly so that our water supply will be protected

And more…so much good comes out of this event which has been planned for months by dedicated Medfield Green members and supported by the Medfield community.
Medfield Green appreciates all the support from the residents of Medfield who were so generous. A big thank you also goes out to the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization(M.E.M.O.) who provided financial sponsorship of this event for the second year in a row.
