Celebrating The Superheroes In Medfield

Medfield Park & Recreation campers celebrate Medfield Police and Fire as their Superheroes and get a surprise themselves!

Medfield Park & Recreation Campers Celebrate Medfield Police and Fire as Their Superheroes

Medfield Park & Recreation summer campers were surprised and ecstatic last Thursday during "Superheroes Theme Week".

Approximately one hundred Park & Recreation summer campers chose Medfield's Police and Medfield's Firefighters as their Superheroes! Their plan was to walk to the station, meet some of these Superheroes and present them with THANK YOU posters.

Little did the campers know, they would not only meet these Local Superheros, but they would meet three other very recognizable Superheroes.

"When 100 Parks & Recreation summer campers overrun the public safety building .. who do the police and fire call for backup ?????? Yup, you guessed it .. Wonder Woman, Ghost-Spider [Gwen] and, of course Spider-Man!" said Deputy Police Chief Barry McGrath.

Park & Recreation Director, Katie Walper was thrilled with the reaction of the kids and had a great time herself. She stated, " It was our Superhero's theme week at camp and our campers wanted to
acknowledge local Superheroes and picked Medfield Fire and Police. Our camps presented them with posters, and to our surprise they brought their own Superheroes for our campers, the campers were SO EXCITED! It was a great collaboration and excited for future events with both Medfield Fire and Police"

"The campers honored us today with posters they made, as they are celebrating superhero week and chose us as their heroes. As a surprise to the campers, we invited our superhero friends to join us, pose for photos & make wonderful memories. On behalf of all of the officers at the Medfield Police Department, we are always here for you and honored to serve our amazing community. Thank you Park and Recreation campers for making our day! As police officers, we cherish the opportunity to interact with the community in a positive and fun way. Meeting with those campers lasted less than an hour, but we hope the positive memories and playful interactions between the children and our public safety staff, will have a long lasting effect." stated McGrath.
