Celebration at Memorial School: New Playground Equipment

Ribbon cutting and cookies for all....celebrating the new playground equipment in honor of retired Pre-School teacher, Angie Typadis.

The rain kept the celebration off the playground, but it did not stop the fun!

On Thursday afternoon, November 6th, many Memorial School students along with their families gathered in the cafeteria for a ribbon cutting celebration of the new equipment additions to the Memorial School playground.

Integrated Pre-School teacher, Sally DeGeorge, thanked everyone for attending this celebration. She thanked the parents and children who donated and attended, Medfield Public School Director of Physical Plant, Alan Peterson who oversaw the installation of this equipment, the entire Memorial School Staff, Memorial School Principal, Melissa Bilsborough, Pupil Services Director, Matt LaCava, Director of Finance & Operations, Michael LaFrancesca, and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jeff Marsden.

The guest of honor, Angie Typadis, was excited and honored with all the improvements and new equipment installed on the playground. Typadis, also known as “Mrs. T.” retired after 24 years of devoted service to the Medfield Public Schools as one of the Integrated Pre-School teachers at Memorial School. As a result of the donations made in her honor, four new pieces of playground equipment were purchased. They are (1) a twisting adventure tunnel, (2) a mountain climber, (3) a climbing wall, and (4) a four person spring a-bout. O’Brien and Sons also generously donated a digger for the new sandpit.

Although the children didn’t get the chance to try out the new equipment because of the weather conditions, they enjoyed cookies, juice and goldfish crackers indoors during the ceremony. A plaque will be placed at the playground area for all to read stating: “In appreciation of Angie Typadis “Mrs. T” for her years of devoted service to the Medfield Integrated PreSchool - 1989-2014”

It was a wonderful celebration for a wonderful teacher, and all those involved should be very proud of this project. Current and future Medfield students will enjoy this playground for many years to come.
