Medfield Environment Action Events in Medfield, Climate Week 2024

Medfield Environment Action MEA is excited to announce Medfield's second annual Climate Week, Saturday April 27 - Sunday May 5!

There will be a variety of interesting events throughout the week that will get you thinking about climate change and how you can help. Check out the complete Schedule of Events at MEAMedfield.org. Check back frequently as new events may be added. Most events are free, and all are welcome!

New this year, Dale Street School will celebrate “Bike or Walk to School Day” on Thursday, May 2, 2024 with a rain date of Friday May 3rd. Participating students will be entered in a raffle to win tokens for the school’s new book vending machine! Students are welcome to meet at Hinkley Pond at 7:30 am to join a “bike train” which will proceed to the school. Sign up by April 30th (see flyer for QR code or email medfieldbike2school@gmail.com). Other transportation related activities include an Electric Vehicle Car Show on Sunday May 5, 1-3 pm at the Center at Medfield parking lot and a hike and a beginner mountain bike ride on scenic trails in Medfield. A homeowner will host “Talk Tesla” and relay her experiences.

There are opportunities to learn about solar energy, heat pumps and geothermal heat pumps and speak directly to homeowners about the process. A local realtor is offering a presentation on Solar Power and the Value of Your Home. Several events are taking place which reuse items,electronics or clothing and keep them out of landfills. Pick up a book and learn about climate issues at several book displays. The library will have several Earth Month programs targeting all age groups, even little ones. Get discounts on sustainable, earth-friendly products at the Butterfly Tree Shop and organic wines at Larkins Liquor. Participate in planning and growing a Colonial Vegetable Garden with herbs and medicinal plants at the Peak House. Throughout the week, Juice on Main is offering a discount for those who practice certain sustainable actions when visiting and Medfield House of Pizza is discounting its meatless pizza.

Come visit the friendly goats who are busy cleaning up and greening our planet and backyard chickens as well as demonstrations of robotic lawn mowers and other sustainable yard tools at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Sunday, April 28 1-3 pm. There will also be a huge, interactive Jenga Blocks game with extinct species at the same location. During the week, settle your mind with a contemplative, climate-themed, interfaith labyrinth walk or relax and learn how to knit a temperature blanket. Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse will donate all funds to an environmental justice organization.
