Endorsement for Leo Brehm for Medfield School Committee
by Andrew Marcinek (former Obama DOE Director)

Integrity. Passion. Innovation. These are a few words that come to mind when I think about my friend, Leo Brehm. Leo and I have served the educators of Massachusetts during our time on the board at MassCUE. During this time I got to see Leo’s integrity first hand in his role as President of the MassCUE Board. In this role Leo led with transparency and had the voice of students and educators at the forefront of every decision he made. There wasn’t always consensus, but Leo listened and led with trust and transparency throughout his tenure as MassCUE Board President.
I have also been witness to Leo’s innovative approach to education. Leo doesn’t simply adhere to the status quo, but he provokes progressive thinking and develops new ideas to make education great for all students no matter the zip code. Leo and I have presented together at numerous conferences serving on panels, conducting workshops, and presenting in a lecture style format. Each time I work with Leo, I am impressed by the breadth of his ideas and how he’s able to present them in a focused, concise manner.
I have worked in education my entire career and have seen education through many lenses. I have worked in public schools in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, charter schools, independent schools, and with the United States Department of Education and the White House. Throughout my time in each of these roles, I have not come across a more dedicated and passionate educator than Leo Brehm. I give him my full endorsement for school committee and know he will lead with integrity, passion, and an innovative approach.
