An Event close to my heart...
Please consider taking part in this March 6th Blood Drive, Bone Marrow Registry and Bake Sale, hosted by my nephew, in memory of his wife.

Love conquers all…
My nephew, Sean, lost his wife to cancer last March. Since her passing his life has not been easy as he continues to work through his grief and sadness. But because he had such deep love for his wife, he found the strength to break the cycle of sadness and do something good. In order to heal and find happiness again Sean realized he needed to do something with a purpose. Sean decided to organize a memorial blood drive to honor his wife, Deidra and to help many people. This event has grown beyond the Blood Drive, with the addition of a Bone Marrow Registry and a Bake Sale!
On Sunday, March 6th, the Memorial Blood Drive for Deidra will be held at Norwood High School (245 Nichols Street) from 9am-3pm.

It takes determination to organize this kind of event, but Sean felt compelled to do this, so reached out to the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute and they agreed to support this blood drive by supplying the Blood Mobile.
In addition, a Bone Marrow Registry Drive, “Be The Match”, will also be available for those who cannot give blood or otherwise want to get on this National Registry. He is doing all this with no idea of how many people will attend and that is why I am reaching out to you!

Friends of Deidra and Sean and the residents of Norwood and beyond have been very generous, and now it is time to make this event known and get people to sign up.....Time for a Call to Action! If you live in Medfield or a surrounding town, Norwood High School is right around the corner, so please consider attending this event. If you have a few hours on Sunday, March 6th and can come to the Blood Drive, thank you. If you cannot attend, but want to take part in The Bone Marrow Registry Drive, you can fill out the paperwork online and they will mail you a sample kit for you to mail back when done. The program is www.BeTheMatch.org. In addition to the Blood Drive and the Bone Marrow Registry, Sean has also organized a Bake Sale. His beloved Deidra loved baking and singing, so the proceeds from this bake sale will be donated to the Norwood Parents Music Association. http://www.norwoodpma.org/
Sean created a facebook event, and posted it with these words,
“On March 2, 2015, My beautiful wife Deidra Daley- Murphy, died from complications resulting from her second bought of Kidney cancer. It has been a hard year for me. I have had a lot of ups and downs. I have reconnected with old friends and family. I have also broken down and lashed out on occasion…On March 6, 2016, in the NHS Cafeteria, I am holding this blood drive in her memory to celebrate life and light. I can’t stop the world from spinning on, but maybe, just maybe something positive can come from this.”
On Sean’s facebook page he also wrote:
“I am working with the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber. My challenge, my call to action is that on March 6, 2016 everyone that reads this page will want to do something. Do one act of human kindness. Support this Blood drive, support an organization closer to you, rescue dogs or give a dollar to a charity. I have been told people don’t give blood because they were not asked, consider yourselves asked! Find something worthy, and help them. If you want to post it here that would be great. Post pictures or blogs about it. A one day Revolution. How about it? I also ask if anyone who is reading this page could forward it to as many as they can, thank you!
I also wanted to mention, especially to the Norwood residents reading and following this event page, the Norwood School Superintendent was generous enough to waive the building fee for the blood drive. My way of saying thank you is to donate the proceeds of this bake sale to the Norwood Parents Music Association. As many of you know two hobbies that Deidra loved were singing and baking, so this seemed a good pairing. The bake sale is the same time as the Blood drive.”

Please email BloodDonor@partners.org, or call the donor center at 617-632-3206 if you have questions about scheduling and/or availability.
Thank you...and I hope to see you on March 6th!
