Farmers Market Continues with Interesting Vendors

More than half of the market vendors are there weekly, many others tend to be intermittent. A weekly visit only will tell which is which.

The Medfield Farmers’ Market continues into July with a majority of its vendors on site each Thursday from 2 -6:30 P.M. on the grounds of the historic First Parish Meeting House, 26 North St. Parking for customers is located behind the church building and along North St.

Although a few of the vendors will be intermittent or one time only, weekly vendors continue to offer: fresh produce, herbs and flowers from White Barn Farm, fresh eggs from the Shilling family, who will occasionally bring baby pigs too and Jamaican jerk foods from Wagwan. This local resident studied in the islands. Pangea Cuisines is a paleo food truck, and Jordan’s Seafood truck has fresh, never frozen, fish. Used coffee grounds from Starbucks are offered with instructions on their benefits for gardens and a First Parish church bake sale table selling homemade hand pies, protein bites and doggie treats gives its proceeds directly toward the maintenance of the historic church building.

Other interesting items often include Confectionary Creations’ jams, pickles, spice rubs, homemade bread and cookies; MDS Soapworks’ handmade soap; and children’s clothes from the Mini-Emporium. Little Beehive Farm will be there throughout the summer providing organic honey, lip balms, mosquito and tick spray and soaps, also all organic. Wellness information will be available by the Holistic Wellness Center therapists. There will be fine crafts intermittently and some non-profit organizations. Recently, a consumer advocacy group, Consumers for Sensible Energy, which promotes responsible energy policies that assure adequate energy supplies at fair prices was in attendance.

The best way to find what is available is to browse the market weekly, rain or shine.

Food from the market is ideal for a picnic supper in the park at the rear of the building, overlooking Meeting House Pond or to take to Gazebo Park, adjacent to the library, while listening to the Thursday “Concerts In the Park” that begin at 6 P.M.
